Roy Foote Watson Jr., 75, a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away on Jan. 28, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Blomquist Gibbes; stepfather Crawford Denton Gibbes Jr.; and father Roy Foote Watson.
Roy is survived by his sister Cynthia Watson Calvert; brothers Michael Thomas Gibbes, John Patrick Gibbes and Crawford Denton Gibbes III; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy graduated R.H. Watkins High School in Laurel, then studied at Hinds Jr. College, receiving an associate’s degree. He was extremely talented in rebuilding cars, motorcycles and boats.
Roy was a member of the Laurel Police Department, serving close to 20 years. He often spoke at area organizations and schools.
His greatest love was his boat docked at Gautier, where he spent many weekends. Roy’s happiest memories were there.
A family memorial service will tale place at a later date.
